Here’s to the Grad

This grad’s mom, Jennifer, contacted me from her home in Calgary. They were coming to NS to celebrate Shaun’s convocation and wanted a special and memorable cake for their post-convocation dinner party being held at the Cellar restaurant in Bedford.

Much of the inspiration for this cake came from the invite, which Jennifer sent to me in the mail.

I received the nicest email from Jenn when they’d returned to Calgary:

Hi Shauna,

We’re back in Calgary after a fantastic weekend of Convocation Party and getting our son settled into his new place but I had to take a minute to tell you what a huge hit the cake was with everyone!

First of all it looked even better than the sketches (editor’s note: please see blog entry The Sketch vs. the Cake for further proof that the cake will always look better than the sketch!)  and the chats you and I had in the planning phases, yet somehow it was exactly what I hoped for! Thank you for your professionalism and for all the upfront time spent in planning with me so that it coordinated with those super cool invites, etc. The time was well worth it and really paid off! Second, the red velvet cake tasted every bit as good as it looked! So yummy! The bottom layer was devoured at the dinner party and then we rewarded ourselves during moving weekend with cake breaks!

Shaun was totally blown away and the look on his face was worth everything! Thanks so much for doing what you do…you’re the best!

Jennifer

Thank you, Jennifer!
